Mr Prabhakaran S Nair

 

Prabhakaran S. Nair is a qualified social scientist (1978) and archivist trained in New Delhi (1985) and London (1992). He is credited with numerous articles and publications, including Prince Among Men: Recollections and Reflections on Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra, Tunku Still The Greatest Malaysian, The Journey of Democracy: Commemorating 50 years of Parliament and King Ghaz: A Man of His Times (co-edited with Dr. Rais Yatim).

He is founder editor of the Journal of Malaysian Biographies which seeks to generate an interest for history through the biographical approach. He has, in his erstwhile role as Director of the National Heroes’ Centre (National Archives of Malaysia) been an ardent promoter of racial unity and religious understanding through publications and regular lecture series organized in collaboration with educational institutions and civil society movements during every Independence Month between 2003-2009.

His liberal and humanistic approach to work has brought him into close contact with a wide network of Malaysians committed to social ideals as reflected in his varied roles as Trustee of the Gandhi Memorial Trust, Vice-President of the Movement for Peace, Conscience and Reason (PCORE), Executive Director of the Criminalize War Club, Secretary of the All-Malaysia Malayalee Association and former Secretary-General of the International Movement for a JUST World.
